West Sussex Teaching School Hub

GLF Schools

GLF Schools was founded in 2012 in order to enable the federation of Glyn School (an academy in 2011) and Danetree Junior School. Together, we began our journey to become a MAT of more than 1000 talented staff working with over 10,000 children in 40 schools across 5 regions in southern England.

Non-standard Induction

To register for our AB services please complete the form here.

Reduced Induction

The Appropriate Body can consider a reduced induction where an ECT can demonstrate extensive prior experience based on the Teachers' Standards.

The minimum induction period is currently two terms.

An application for a reduced induction can be requested with the support of the Headteacher.

Part-time Induction

ECTs undertaking induction on a part-time basis at any point will need to serve the full-time equivalent (FTE) of two full school years.

It is for the school and Appropriate Body to decide in each individual case the length of the induction period required which is fair and takes full account of the ECT’s working pattern.

If part-time ECTs are able to demonstrate that they can meet the Teachers' Standards requests for consideration can be made at the end of two academic years, subject to FTE conditions.

Moving schools mid-Induction

If an ECT moves schools during the two year induction period and so changes Appropriate Body, it will be necessary for the new AB to obtain copies of previous Progress Reviews and Formal Assessments to ensure the ECT is on track.

The ECT will need to be registered with the DfE Digital Service and new Appropriate Body.

Similarly if an ECT leaves before completing induction, the school will need to complete an interim assessment.  The DfE Digital Service and Appropriate Body will need to be informed of the change.
