Last week saw the GLF TSH team visit the West Sussex County Council Primary Leadership conference. Joined by Deputy Headteachers and Headteachers from across the county, the team enjoyed two days meeting and talking to them about the services we offer.

Also in attendance were a range of other exhibitors, as well as a busy conference schedule of diverse and interesting speakers.

A particular highlight was the emotive talk by Richard McCann  - @icanspeak. His gripping story of triumph over adversity was peppered with references to some memorable teachers who helped him along the way, cementing his clear belief that the teaching community really do help shape lives.

The venue was also a triumph, with the fantastic facilities at The Roffey Park Institute providing a modern and stylish backdrop to the proceedings. With stunning views, and equally stunning catering, the attendees really were treated to a 5 star experience.

Conference Host, John Gadd was similarly pleased with the event;

"Another hugely successful West Sussex primary schools. The 3-day Leadership Conference at the end of January was enjoyed by over 150 Assistant, Deputy and Headteachers from all across the County. Held at the renowned Roffey Park Institute a range of excellent speakers focused on the theme of Leadership Well-being (you need to look after yourself to lead others successfully). Sponsored by JSPC and supported by a wide range of other education providers, overwhelmingly positive feedback showed that this event continues to make a significant impact on school leadership in West Sussex".

Harry Harms, Training and Events Officer from the Education, Communication and Enterprise team at WSCC, was also extremely pleased with how the conference went and the fantastic feedback received from the 150+ visitors across the three days: "Personally, I was really impressed and excited about the buzz within the conference space, as well as within the exhibitor rooms and through the corridors. Everyone was on board with theme of the conference. One headteacher commented that it was “really useful in giving food for thought to wellbeing and supporting staff… and (sic) really valued the opportunity to meet colleagues and the exhibitors”, whilst another said “Superb conference – best Head’s conference I’ve attended!”

We are excited to see what the 2025 conference brings, and we hope to see you there.
